Yarn Stories Vol 1 : Domestic Cotton & Wool

I had the pleasure of working with two incredible humans to make a custom yarn, completely made in the USA with undyed fibers. Sally Fox who has pioneered organic cotton farming and spent decades breeding naturally colored cotton plants, and Francis Cestari of Cestari Sheep and Wool, whose Virginia farm has been raising sheep using traditional organic practices since the late 1960s. The custom yarn is spun using the woolen system at Cestari’s yarn mill, creating a distinctively soft and fuzzy hand feel. By incorporating Sally Fox’s naturally colored Coyote brown cotton, the blend achieves a unique warm hue without the use of any dyes. This yarn represents our dedication to building meaningful relationships with producers who share our values, honoring traditional methods, and creating textiles that are beautiful without compromise. The yarn is launching in our perennial favorite, the Box Bomber. After a quick sell out of our initial stock, we've opened up pre-orders for a second production run here.

In thinking about how to present the story behind this yarn, I had the idea to record both Sally and Francis talking about their work and put together small clips with photos. After recording the calls with each of them, it felt a shame to clip these recordings and hold back anything that they said so below is linked a raw recording of one of my calls with each of them.
